Entrance Requirements for Government-funded Associate Degree Programmes (for 2017 Entry)

For admission to the government-funded Associate of Science programmes offered by the Division of Building Science and Technology and the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering, applicants must meet the entrance requirements set out below. The levels/grades indicated are the minimum acceptable but possession of the qualifications in no way guarantees acceptance.

Other Qualifications

Other qualifications may include an academic qualification from a local post-secondary institution or a professional qualification acceptable to the University. Qualifications attained through a local international school or a non-local high school, at Grade 12 or equivalent, are also accepted as satisfying the entrance requirements. Applicants whose entrance qualifications are obtained in a language other than English will need an acceptable result in an approved English Language qualification such as TOEFL [79 (Internet) or 550 (paper)] or IELTS (overall band score 6.5).

Notes: 

  1. In addition to the General Entrance Requirements, individual programmes may require a specific subject background.
  2. Mature applicants are eligible to apply for admission even if they do not satisfy any of the above requirements. Mature applicants must be over the age of 25 by 1 September of the year of admission and be able to demonstrate their aptitude and suitability for study.
  3. Entrance requirements are subject to ongoing review. The University reserves the right to amend the requirements from time to time.
