JUPAS

How Does JUPAS Help HKDSE Students?

The Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) provides a platform for students with Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) results to apply for admission to full-time government-funded Bachelor’s Degree and Associate Degree/Higher Diploma programmes offered by the eight member institutions of JUPAS, and the full-time non-government-funded bachelor’s degree programmes offered by the Open University of Hong Kong.

Step 1: Check your eligibility to apply through JUPAS

You are eligible to apply through JUPAS if

  • you are a secondary school student sitting for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination in the current year; or
  • you are a non-school applicant who expects to obtain HKDSE results in the current year.

You are NOT eligible to apply through JUPAS if you are currently enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree programme offered via JUPAS in one of the nine institutions, regardless of whether or not you want to make the application on the strength of your HKDSE results.

Step 2: Check the JUPAS programmes you can apply for at CityU

The JUPAS programmes you can apply for at CityU are as follows:

  1. government-funded bachelor's degree programmes and
  2. government-funded associate degree programme

Students holding a Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) qualification will be admitted to a college or school. For colleges/schools that offer more than one major, students generally enter a major after one year of study. Click here for more information about the admissions arrangements.

If you have applied for admission through JUPAS, you should NOT submit an application to the University again for any programmes listed under the JUPAS system. Otherwise, your direct application to the University will not be considered and any application fee paid will NOT be refunded. You may, however, still submit a direct application to the University for non-government funded programmes that are not offered through JUPAS.

Step 3: Check the requirements

Bachelor's Degree Programmes

For admission to bachelor’s degree programmes at the University, the minimum General Entrance Requirements for HKDSE holders are:

  • Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language; AND
  • Level 2 or above in Mathematics and Liberal Studies; AND
  • Level 3 or above in one elective subject (excluding Applied Learning subjects). If the elective subject is a subject under ‘other languages’, a minimum of grade E is required.

Colleges and Schools may establish additional requirements for the degrees offered by the College or School. For details on College and School specific requirements, click here.

Government-funded Associate Degree Programme

For admission to government-funded associate degree programme at the University, the minimum General Entrance Requirements for HKDSE holders are:

  • Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language; AND
  • Level 2 or above in any Three Subjects (excluding Applied Learning, Chinese Language, English Language).

Step 4: How to apply

School and non-school applicants should submit their applications via JUPAS.

Step 5: When will the Main Round offer results for 2014 entry be announced?

The Main Round offer results will be announced on 8 August 2014 (tentative).

Step 6: What should you do if you are given an offer in the Main Round?

The offer you receive in the Main Round is the best offer possible. If you have an offer in the Main Round, please follow the instructions announced via JUPAS to confirm your acceptance of the admission offer. If you do not complete the required steps by the specified deadline, you will be regarded as having declined the offer and given up the opportunity for admission to all study programmes offered under JUPAS in the same year.
