The College of Business is one of the largest business schools in Hong Kong offering a broad range of professional business education at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. Applicants for the 4-Year BBA
JUPAS HKDSE students or Direct applicants holding a 12-year school-leaving qualification will apply for admission to the College of Business. The minimum graduation requirement for students of the 4-year BBA structure is 120 credits.
BBA students will not select a major until after Year 2 Semester A. During their first year, students will study a broad range of Gateway Education (GE) courses as well as College core courses. The top 20% of students [based on (i) completion of at least 30 credit units in Semesters A and B; (ii) no failed grades in any courses in Semesters A and B; and (iii) cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of Semester B] will have free choice of the majors offered by the College. The other 80% of students will be allocated to a major of their choice, subject to the availability of places and the selection criteria set by the College.
Applicants for the BBA via Advanced Standing
Direct applicants holding a 13-year school-leaving qualification such as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, a Hong Kong Advanced Level (HKAL) or a General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCEAL) qualification may apply for admission to a BBA major directly with the offering department via the Advanced Standing I route or to the College to study a four-year curriculum without advanced studnding. The minimum graduation requirement for Advanced Standing I students is 93 credits.

Overseas Exposure
To nurture graduates who will have the confidence to enter an international and culturally diverse workplace, internationalization has been a priority for the College. We have over 150 exchange partner universities, providing over 700 exchange opportunities for our business students.
Half of our BBA students embark on Student Exchange, various Summer Study and Work Abroad programmes. For the latter, students will participate in English immersion course, volunteer work, homestay and cultural activities in India, the Philippines, New Zealand, U.K. or the U.S.A.
Internship
The College-based internship programme is designed to provide students with real life working experience in local and overseas contexts for at least 6 weeks in the summer. With placements in international business, banking, financial services, insurance, accountancy firms, etc., students are expected to gain an in-depth and practical understanding of business operations and the professional contexts.
In addition, the six departments of the College offer internship opportunities for students to acquire first-hand experiences in the business world before graduation. Students can apply for either part-time or full-time job placements in local, mainland and overseas companies.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance
CityU and the College of Business offer various scholarships and financial assistance schemes to students on academic merit or need basis. For details, please click here.
Student Exchange Fund
The Student Exchange Fund provides sponsorship to CityU full-time degree students with Hong Kong permanent resident status. Depending on the region/country of the host university, each student receives funding support ranging from $9,000 to $20,000 for one-semester overseas exchange.

Overseas Summer Programmes
Under the Cultural and Language Immersion Scheme (CALIS) and the Work Abroad (WA) programme, students receive a subsidy of around $12,000 each.
Overseas Internship Programmes
For students joining overseas internship programmes, normally a subsidy of $5,000 per month is provided.
Our business students are highly sought after upon graduation. The Saturday South China Morning Post advertises on average over 50% of the jobs for business graduates, more than any other fields of study.
According to CityU’s graduate employment statistics 2012, the average monthly salary for BBA fresh graduates is $12,047. The majority of our graduates are employed in the business fields and the top 5 areas are: Accounting/Auditing/Taxation, Marketing/Sales, Administration/Management, Banking/Finance, and Customer Service.

Students in this programme have opportunities to work in the human resources department of well-established companies in Hong Kong through the Summer Internship Programme organised by the Department and the College of Business. Students also work face-to-face with business leaders to learn management skills in the Career Development Workshop and attain leadership and team building skills in the Entrepreneurship Project. Students can also develop a global outlook by participating in the International Student Exchange Programme organised by the College and the University. Last, but not least, students will be given the chance to network with their peers and our HRM alumni through the Student Mentoring Scheme and the annual HRM Night. |
