Programme Highlight

We aim to nurture Professional and Ethical Leaders for Business Challenges.  With excellent career development support and diversified out-of-curriculum training, we prepare potential accountancy students to be professional accountants who are ready for future business challenges.

What You Will Be Studying

The major in Accountancy at CityU has three streams of study that target students' different developmental needs and prepare them for the career path of professional accountants.

The Professional Accounting Stream (PA) aims to provide an active learning environment in which students can acquire knowledge of accounting and interrelated business disciplines, along with the broader skills and essential values expected of leaders of the accounting profession in Hong Kong and the Greater China region.

The Professional Accounting and Legal Studies Stream (PALS) aims to provide students with a broad-based business education and specialisation in accounting with a strong legal background. Graduates of this stream are competent in conducting independent research on accounting and legal issues. This ability will undoubtedly enhance their career progression in CPA firms, government bodies and commercial organisations.

The Professional Accounting and Information Systems Audit Stream (PAISA) aims to provide students with a broad-based business education and specialisation in the integrated disciplines of accounting and information systems. With training in both accounting and information systems, our graduates have more alternatives in their future careers, and can choose to work for public accounting firms not only in the financial auditing and taxation areas, but also in information system auditing. Graduates of this stream can also work as project managers for multinational corporations. Others may serve as enterprise resource planning consultants due to their training in information management in addition to accounting.
