The School of Law aspires to be an internationally-renowned centre for legal research and teaching in the Asia-Pacific region. JUPAS Applicants
HKDSE students will be considered for direct admission to the LLB Programme in the School of Law.
Direct/ Non-JUPAS Applicants
Direct/ Non-JUPAS students will be considered for direct admission to the LLB Programme in the School of Law.
During their first year, students will study a broad range of Gateway Education (GE) courses as well as core-curricular courses designed by the School.
JUPAS Applicants
To be eligible for admission to the LLB Programme, the HKDSE applicant should achieve Level 5 or above in English Language and satisfy the University general entrance requirements (visit: http://www.admo.cityu.edu.hk/jupas_hkdse/).
Direct/ Non-JUPAS Applicants
To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements and meet the following programme specific entrance requirements.
For applicants using HKALE qualifications (http://www.admo.cityu.edu.hk/direct/adm_arrange_entreq) to apply for admission, they must have obtained:
· Grade C or above in HKALE AS Level Use of English OR
· Grade D or E in HKALE AS Level Use of English AND one of the following:
- an overall band score of 7 in IELTS#; or
- a TOEFL# score of 600 (paper-based test) or 100 (internet-based test); or
- other equivalent qualifications.
For applicants using qualifications (http://www.admo.cityu.edu.hk/direct/adm_arrange_entreq) other than HKALE, they must have obtained:
- an overall band score of 7 in IELTS#; or
- a TOEFL# score of 600 (paper-based test) or 100 (internet-based test); or
- other equivalent qualifications.
#Obtained within 3 years before admission.
Applicants may apply for admission to the Bachelor of Laws programme directly. Advanced standing entry will not be considered.
Mature applicants are eligible to apply for admission notwithstanding they do not satisfy the general entrance requirements, provided they can demonstrate suitability for the programme and an aptitude for study. Mature applicants must be over the age of 25 years by 1 September of the year of admission to the LLB programme.
The University may allow previous educational or vocational experience to be counted towards the credit units needed to obtain a City University award.
You will receive a well-rounded legal education from our staff, which includes distinguished teachers and scholars from Hong Kong, mainland China, the UK, Germany, Australia, Canada, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. In addition, you will have the chance to be taught by visiting faculty from law schools such as Oxford, Columbia, Yale and Sydney.
Hong Kong's unique position as a Special Administrative Region of China has provided many challenges and opportunities for legal education, especially in the context of globalization. The School of Law will train you to benefit from these developments and become the best and brightest minds applied to careers in law, business, civil service, banking and other fields.

The School of Law prepares you for the legal profession and law-related careers both in public service, and private enterprise. Our law degree meets the needs, in particular, of those who will become legal professionals in Hong Kong, mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region.
The Bachelor of Laws with Honours Degree (LLB) is a recognized qualification for admission to the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL), a prerequisite for entering the legal profession in Hong Kong.

Students of the City University School of Law had great success in the2011/2012 international mooting competitions. They were honoured with the Championship at the Ninth Annual Willem C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot held in Hong Kong and the Championship at the 2012 International Criminal Court Trial Moot Competition held in the Hauge, Netherlands.
