Hong Kong is a global business centre that connects China to the rest of the world. According to a statistical report by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the number of mainland companies listed in Hong Kong overtook the number of Hong Kong companies in 2007. An increasing number of multinational companies are using Hong Kong as a springboard and a regional hub to support their investments in China and the Asia-Pacific region. This has created a great demand for global business professionals trained in Hong Kong to analyse and manage such cross-country ventures.

Our graduates may find jobs as global business managers, global technology business investors or business project managers in global investment firms or multinational corporations.

Professional Recognition

Some of the courses in the major are designed to prepare students for the following professional certification exams: Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Project Management Professional (PMP) of Project Management Institute (PMI).

Bonus Features

The Department of Information Systems offers the IS Smart Business Scholarships to assist students. In addition, the Department offers the following activities/programmes:

  • Internships at multinational corporations (MNCs)
  • Overseas study tours and company visits
  • Departmental industrial mentorship programme
  • IS Smart Business Scholarships

Did You Know?

  • Compared with similar Hong Kong BBA programmes (i.e., Global Business Studies at CUHK or Global Business at HKUST), we focus on information management pertaining to China.
  • Students receive heavy subsidies from the Department and the University to participate in one-year exchange studies at overseas universities and universities in the Asia/Greater China region.
  • We are one of the largest Information System (IS) departments in the world. We are ranked in the top-six IS departments worldwide and first outside North America.[1]
