Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics (MA) was formed in September 1991 when the former Department of Applied Mathematics was divided into the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Applied Statistics and Operational Research (which has since been renamed the Department of Management Sciences). The new Department of Mathematics then became part of the College of Science and Engineering.

The Department has a strong mission to provide high-quality education in mathematics and conduct first-class research in applied mathematics. We strive for excellence in both teaching and research in applied mathematical sciences.
