Whether it is the public or private sector, our graduates are always in demand. We have trained administrative officers, executive officers and police inspectors in the civil service, and administrators in voluntary organizations and private companies. Graduates can also go on to pursue further studies in local and overseas institutions.

To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements.


What You Will Be Studying

Foundation courses: Living, Learning and Leading in the Workplace, Public Administration, Law, Public Policy, Political Science, Applied Philosophy, Research Methods, and China

Streams: you will choose two out of the following five study streams:

  • Applied Ethics: focuses on practical skills for the ethical analysis of public affairs, social issues and dilemmas of governance.  
  • China Studies: focuses on public management, public policy and inter-governmental relations in today's China.
  • Policy: focuses on contemporary issues in policy analysis and evaluation.
  • Politics and International Affairs: focuses on government and international relations in a globalizing world.
  • Public Management: focuses on current debates in public management and organizational studies.

Did You Know?

You can spend one semester at a chosen overseas university through our department, college or university-wide student exchange programmes. The Department's Student Experience Enhancement and Development (SEED) Fund also enables you to gain valuable insights through field trips and study.

This programme aims to provide students with a comprehensive education in policy studies and administration as well as to link general themes in policy studies and administration to the Hong Kong environment with reference to developments in China and the global scene. The programme produces graduates who can meet effectively the human resources needs of a wide range of public and private sector employers in administrative, management and policy analysis positions.
