Our Target

Students who have successfully completed the programme will be able to: 

  • display knowledge of major cultural artworks, and their trends of development;
  • discuss critically the relations between cultural history and heritage, from aesthetic, historical, archaeological, anthropological, ethnological and scientific perspectives;
  • demonstrate critical appreciation of the aesthetic, cultural and educational value of major cultural artworks and heritage artifacts;
  • disseminate and promote in English and Chinese knowledge of culture and heritage to a non-specialist audience;
  • plan, organize, promote and manage cultural and heritage programmes; and
  • reflect on the generic nature of the knowledge and skills acquired, which can have broad relevance across different countries and regions, and reflect, in particular, on Hong Kong’s cultural heritage and its unique position in integrating cultures of the East and the West.

What You Will Be Studying

Required Courses:You will enjoy our well-designed classes, e.g., in Cultural Literacy in the Asian/Western Context, Arts and Aesthetic Criticism, History and Heritage, East Asian Film Cultures, Management for Cultural Professionals, and Bilingual Writing for Promoting Cultural and Heritage.

 
Electives:You may choose from a wide range of specialized cultural, heritage, management and bilingual writing courses.

Students will have opportunities to join exchange programmes with non-local universities and to engage in practical internships in or outside Hong Kong.
