Our Target

We aim to equip students with specialised modern knowledge of civil and structural engineering. Our programmes have an edge over other typical civil engineering programmes thanks to a broad-based knowledge of civil engineering that include structural engineering, construction management, and infrastructure and urbanism.

Entrance Requirements for Direct/Non-JUPAS Applicants

To be considered for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements and the following major-specific entrance requirements:
•   grade E or above in HKALE Applied Mathematics/Pure Mathematics;
•   grade C or above in GCE A Level Mathematics;
•   subject score of 4 or above in the IB Mathematics subject group; OR
•   other qualifications equivalent to any one of the above and approved by the University.

A large number of housing units have been built over the past decade and this pace of development is expected to continue to cater to the needs of an expanding and increasingly affluent population. As such, Civil and Structural Engineering graduates will remain in high demand.

Industrial Academic Exchange Programmes

The College of Science and Engineering and the Department offer work placement opportunities through internship schemes that provide students with full-time job attachments to firms not only in Hong Kong, but also in the Pearl River Delta region and overseas. Through such placements, students

This Major will apply accreditation from The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Civil Discipline, and the following disciplines for specific streams:
•          Structural Discipline (for Structural Engineering Stream)
