We aim to produce graduates who can play key professional roles in the manufacturing industry amid increasing global challenges. Students will acquire a broad understanding of the concepts, techniques and tools in the subject domain that will enable them to identify and tackle diverse quality engineering problems in manufacturing and related sectors. In addition to engineering know-how, students will be armed with quality control, quality assurance and reliability engineering skills, with additional training in trace element analysis, international standards conformity testing and compliance knowledge and skills. Furthermore, they will have extensive exposure to real-life industry scenarios through practical hands-on projects, industrial internships and industry-based final-year projects.
Graduates will find career opportunities in a broad range of manufacturing and service industries. Typical starting positions include quality/quality assurance/quality control engineer/officer/controller, procurement/supplier quality engineer/officer, quality system/ISO9000 officer/controller, product testing/integrity engineer, customer/service quality officer, quality and safety engineer/officer, project engineer and quality analyst.
To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy CityU's General Entrance Requirements.
Applicants with HKAL, GCE A-levels, IB or other equivalent high school qualification must have passed a science- or mathematics-based subject such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Applied or Pure Mathematics, Engineering Science, Design and Technology, Statistics etc.
For senior-year (Advanced Standing II) admission, Associate Degree/Higher Diploma applicants are normally expected to have completed the award with a CGPA of ≥3.0, or an equivalent overall mark or credit award in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Management, Product Design and Product Testing or a related discipline.
