Division of Building Science and Technology

The Division of Building Science and Technology offers government-funded Associate Degree awards with three respective majors: (1) Building Services Engineering, (2) Construction Engineering and Management and (3) Surveying.

The mission of the Division is to

  • provide high-quality higher vocational education that will equip students to meet the changing needs of the building and design industry;
  • enhance students' learning skills and encourage the continuous development of their personal potential;
  • contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the building industry through applied research and consultancy; and
  • reach out to the community by servicing, interacting and co-operating with other higher education institutions, building-related professional bodies, government organisations, employers and the building industry.

 

建築科技學部開辦的理學士課程為政府資助的兩年全日制課程,旨在為學生提供建築業的相關訓練,並獲有關專業學會認可。學生修畢第一個學期的學科後,學部將根據其成績、各主修科名額與學部選拔標準,分派學生至以下三個主修科中的其中一個以供其繼續學習:

- 屋宇裝備工程學
- 建造工程及管理學
- 測量學

These Associate Degree awards are well recognised by relevant professional institutions.


Admission Arrangements for JUPAS Applicants

JUPAS HKDSE students will apply for admission at the Division of Building Science and Technology. Admitted students will study the core-curriculum courses of the Associate of Science (Building Services Engineering/Construction Engineering and Management/Surveying) programme, English and/or Chinese languages and Gateway Education (GE) courses in the first semester of study. At the end of the first semester, students will be allocated a major of their choice, subject to their academic performance, the availability of places and the selection criteria set by the Division of Building Science and Technology.

Further Study Opportunities

These Associate Degree awards are well recognised by both local and overseas Universities offering further study opportunities.* Graduates may be admitted to the full-time undergraduate degrees offered by City University of Hong Kong, or other local and overseas universities pending credit transfer.

Co-curricular Activities and Learning Support

Off-campus learning is emphasised through participation in internships and site visits to provide opportunities for students to acquire knowledge outside the classroom.

CityU and the Division offer various kinds of learning support, including mentoring schemes and English language support, to enrich students' learning experiences.
